Does the pen have left and right hands?

Are there any restrictions on the right and left hand for writing pens? Otherwise, why is there a left hand tip?

As long as the pen has a round tip and a round grip, it is a pen for both left and right hands. Only pens with oblique tips and triangular grips can distinguish between left and right hands. There are very few boutique pens on the market at present, and the most common one that separates the left and right hands is designed for school-age children.

Triangle grip

The grip position is cut into a triangle, and the pen tip angle is fixed; as long as the thumb, index finger and middle finger are attached to the triangle grip position, the recommended writing angle is. The biggest difference between left and right holding is the angle of the middle finger sticking position. So when you hold the wrong hand, your middle finger will get stuck.

Isn’t Lamy’s Safari and AL-Star also a triangle grip? Why didn't you split the left and right hands? Lamy actually only has "two corners", and the angle of the middle finger is round, so holding it left or right will not affect it.

The grip of Parker 75 (the most well-known is the silver grid series), like Lamy, is flattened at the thumb and index finger, and the middle finger is round. It claims to be able to adjust the nib angle according to personal preference, so Parker also released the "Nib Angle Adjuster"; the metal ring at the front end of the 75 grip has a scale, which looks like a professional, but its practicality is not great. However, this "tip adjuster" is more popular than pens on eBay, and it is a by-product copying technique. (Lamy, my pen tongue has a groove corresponding to the inner diameter of the grip, so I can’t adjust the angle of the pen tip like 75)

Oblique Broad (OB, Oblique Broad)

Special tip: The oblique tip (abbreviated as OB tip) really has the problem of left and right hands, because the pen nib sticker surface is made of bevel, and the left and right hands are very different.

Why does the OB tip have left and right hand problems?

In fact, it's just a general writing habit. The eyes need to see the beautiful nib piece, so when holding the pen, the thumb and index finger are drawn in a straight line, just parallel to the nib piece. However, the mountain does not turn around. As long as you don't follow this habit, you can still write with the right oblique tip with your left hand, but you will see the side of the nib instead of the shiny golden nib.

The purpose is to stick the inclined surface of the pen nib flat on the paper surface, there will be no problem of scraping the paper (middle);
But when I write, I only see the side of the pen tip (right)

Concluding remarks

Left-handed people who are just getting started with fountain pens will always feel that they didn’t buy a special tip for the left hand, so they scratched the writing, not smooth? The left and right hands are actually just a selling point. On the market, 99.9% of them have round tips and round grips, so there will be no problems with left and right hands.

In the nib Wang pages in there all kinds of weird bunch of left hand holding the pen method. Most of the writing in various countries is from left to right. The biggest problem with left hand writing is that the hand will immediately be printed on the wet ink. Therefore, left-handed writers often have weird angles to avoid printing on the wet text. I think the writing is beautiful, what angle? How to hold a pen? It is second. (School-age children are still taught in standard postures, so as not to be laughed at by classmates and complained by teachers)
